StrikeDay Eve Day. The day before history is made..........where current management can be proud of being the first to allow a strike in CCTA history! Its quite typical, if one thinks about it. At least from my point of view, it is. Up to this point, we have had to deal with their way or the highway. Quotes such as I cant run the best Transit Authority if theres a divide. We have to work on the distrust and work together..... and then nothing happens and I have no intentions on getting back to you (when an issue was brought up by the Labor Management Committee)-Bill W. Thats your interpretation, Thats not how Im reading it, Im not feeling comfortable. Youre creating a hostile work environment Said by Tim B. when the stewards wanted to record a grievance yet they feel our every move should be recorded. So many more to add...... It feels good this morning knowing I have people I know and people I dont know, supporting me and my fellow driver. Tomorrow is also history for US! No more sitting back and doing what we know isnt right. No more abuse! Gone are the days of the Target on the back! Tomorrow is the first day in CCTA history that we the drivers, we the people, stand as ONE, demanding our RESPECT for OURSELVES, OUR UNION, and OUR DIGNITY! A contract means nothing. It needs an agreement to exist but still means nothing. A contract is only words and still means nothing. It takes an HONORABLE person or people on both sides to make a contract MEAN SOMETHING. Ive observed a LOT of HONOR in the last month or so from DRIVERS and our SUPPORTERS! And still, the CCTA fails the good faith. Good negotiations end with an agreement. Others end with a strike! Those are the negotiations where the one party STILL THINKS they have control. We the drivers have our different views and opinions. Weve argued, screamed and yelled at one another, proved our different points and so on, working on a fair contract. Democracy in motion! Now, we are out on the street Monday morning AS ONE! We will be with you all AS ONE! One day closer to that fair contract...... I will see you all on Monday with my weapon in my hand.......my PICKET SIGN!!!! And I thank you ALL..... Solidarity!
