Strong Sharks squad for Lions? Good news, fans – the wait is almost over. The Sharks will be in action against the Lions at Ellis Park on Friday night, in a friendly that will serve to keep both teams sharp for the matches to come. With a host of players set to make their return from injury for the Sharks in the upcoming weeks, it’s a pretty good bet that the line-up for Friday night’s game will be a strong one, albeit on paper. With the bulk of the “names” in the side having tasted no action for 6 weeks or more, you can bet that there will be plenty of rust on display, with the chances of an upset against the in-form Lions slim. The real prize, of course, will be a far bigger – and hopefully fitter – squad for John Plumtree to select from when the Blues visit Durban next week. Looking at snaps from the latest training session, a lot of rather encouraging faces appear to be present and accounted for, although it’s not known how many of them will actually be fit for selection on Friday night. Expect the Sharks to have a squad similar to the following available for selection for the Lions game: Props: Wiehahn Herbst, Danie Mienie, Dale Chadwick, Allan Dell Hookers: Craig Burden, Kyle Cooper, Monde Hadebe Locks: Jandre Marais, Peet Marais Loose forwards: Keegan Daniel, Jean Deysel, Tera Mthembu, Jacques Botes, Brynard Stander, Francois Kleinhans Scrumhalves: Cobus Reinach, Charl McLeod, Tian Meyer Flyahlves: Butch James, Fred Zeilinga Centres: Heimar Williams, Marius Joubert, Tim Whitehead Wings: Odwa Ndungane, Sean Robinson (sharksworld)
