Structure Fire at 5312 W. 26th St Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On Monday morning June 23, 2014, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 5312 W. 26th St. Managers from TC’s Referee and the building manager discovered the fire on the east side of the building and called 911. First arriving crews found smoldering embers behind the American Family Insurance sign. The firefighters cut the soffit and roof open and had the fire extinguished in a few minutes. There was no fire extension into the main structure. Crews remained on scene to remove smoke from the soffit and attic space. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the scene with 4 fire trucks, two support vehicles, and 18 firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There is not a sprinkler system in the building. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind property and business owners to have contact information up to date in case of emergencies. This information can be updated during the annual fire inspection.
