Stryker has recalled nearly 30,000 hip implants due to their tendencies to shed excessive amounts of cobalt and chromium into the body. Specifically, the Stryker Rejuvenate femoral stems and the Stryker ABGII femoral stems have been recalled. Patients receiving these recalled Stryker implants were notified of the recall by their orthopedic surgeon. A prominent surgeon suggests that 100% of these recalled Stryker hip implants may need to be replaced. Please note that Stryker has released many other hip implant models that have not been recalled and we are only referring to the recalled Stryker hip implants that were implanted between 2008 and 2012.
