Stuart Goddard a.k.a. Adam Ant was born on this day in 1954. In 1981 as part of Adam and the Ants he scored a No.1 hit single & No.1 album with Stand And Deliver & “Kings Of The Wild Frontier”. The Ants also had over a dozen Top 40 hit singles. “Antmusic” and “Goody Two Shoes” both went to number 1 in Australia. At 21 years of age he was diagnosed as having bipolar disorder and this I guess has led to some radical actions. He has been charged with throwing a car alternator through a pub window and then threatening staff and patrons with an imitation gun, he was arrested after attempting to smash in his neighbours patio door with a shovel. During a gig earlier this year he was heckled by fans who left in droves as Mr. Ant rambled and raved on about his distrust of women, his divorces and the way the media & industry have treated him over the years. Fans left behind debated his mental state, whether he was intoxicated and whether their memories of their Eighties idol had been ruined forever.
