Stuck on Repeat: Steely Dan - Only a Fool Would Say That youtu.be/s8YBdgtCuqQ I love carrying around compilations and anthologies, especially the four disc retrospective, Steely Dans Citizen 1972-1980. On ocassion I let my player hit random and discover a hidden gem I long ignored or forgotten. Ironically, Ive been playing this since Black Friday and its cynical theme on possibly commercialism and idealistic views on world peace seem fitting on this tempestuous weekend. songmeanings/m/songs/view/140464/ Another anal habit I developed recently is looking up any cover of a song Im stuck on, which led to NYC based Indie pop group Ivys 2002 rework off their covers album Guestroom. Which seems to be the only notable and worthy of the bunch. Founders Donald Fagen and Walter Becker has also listed this as their favorite Steely Dan cover. Ivys other notable commercial release was a track on the Somerhing About Mary soundtrack. m.youtube/watch?v=DS-9BXdeSaE Apparently though as of late, its been in heavy rotation on some corporate radio stations like Targets, Albertsons, Walgreens and a few other big retailers a dozen years after its release. Again, rifed with irony is the scenario of a coffehouse version of this tune playing while a barenuckle brawl mosh pit is errupting over a door buster special during a Black Friday blowout at one of the Big Box retailers ala George Romeros Dawn of the Dead. I tend to online shop or go in with my headphones encasulating me from general human contact or the humanoid species that inhabit the isles of Walmart, so I missed this one Bonus alternate version A little less musakie, harder and filtered vocals m.youtube/watch?v=_Qy1a7Xp5vU
