Student Profile: Sempai Isaiah Sempai Isaiah came to Shuzoku - TopicsExpress

Student Profile: Sempai Isaiah Sempai Isaiah came to Shuzoku dojo in January 2014. His family made the long trek from Perth to Melbourne and set up home close to the dojo. When I first laid my eyes on him he was with his mum coming to have a look at the dojo and wanting to sign him up. After a brief chat on his karate history and his desire to keep training I was keen to see him on the mats. The first few lessons were both intriguing and frustrating. But only due to the style he came from, but that made it even more enjoyable because I had a student I could try and adapt to my way of training, very challenging for an instructor but as they say Never too old too learn - me that is. Sempai Isaiah soon became a regular at the dojo and before too long was training 4 times a week while assisting with the kids classes and kinda kids! Sempai Isaiah entered a few tournaments last year and did very well in all of them coming up against some very tough opponents. He did Shuzoku very proud. But it is the way he goes about his business in the dojo that most impresses me. He can adapt to kids classes and then move straight into the seniors class without skipping a beat, not an easy thing to do. Sempai Isaiah won the student of the year award for 2014 for obvious reasons but most of all because of his growth and determination to do well and learn at Shin Yu Do. It is an absolute pleasure having him at Shuzoku and I have no doubt we will be seeing alot more of this young man in 2015 ! Osu!
