Students: As pursuers of tzedek (justice), the events in Ferguson - TopicsExpress

Students: As pursuers of tzedek (justice), the events in Ferguson over the past several months have once again revealed the need for honest, sincere and open dialogue, regardless of ones background. As Rabbi Rick Jacobs and Rabbi Steve Fox wrote today, the underlying issues of damaged relationships between law enforcement and communities of color as well as growing economic and social inequality remain in Ferguson. We are proud of the work that we have done on our own UT campus but acknowledge that we must continue to pursue dialogue. Today many of our Jewish community leaders, movements and organizations have issued statements. We do not endorse any particular statement but rather provide them for insight and direction. As we obtain new perspectives from our various Jewish community leaders, we will continue to update you. As Rabbi Rick Jacobs and Rabbi Steve Fox conclude in their statement, May the Ferguson community and nation join together to meet these challenges and help strengthen our nation as it works to achieve its highest ideals. rac.org/Articles/index.cfm?id=23647&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+racpress+%28Press+Releases+of+the+Religious+Action+Center+of+Reform+Judaism%29 us6.campaign-archive2/?u=e8dc2f2d9405f4a028431548a&id=c45e17faa2&e=3882ae74dd#awesomeshare
