Students Athletes honoured at 2013 Remarkable Teens Xavier French 16 Years Saddlers Secondary School Mr French is a footballer extraordinaire and an avid sportsman. After his initial interaction with football in grade four, which he describes as “Awkward”, he decided that he would push himself to become proficient at the sport. Xavier has been a member of the National under 13 team and a National under 16 team. He has also served as captain of both the saddlers under 16 football team and the Saddlers, Parsons Dieppe Bay Premier Division teams. He often plays the left wing and mid field positions. In 2009 Xavier was named best Midfielder in St.Kitts and Nevis. “Because i put in work it is most successful”, Xavier said as he recapped his journey in sports. In 2012, Xavier was selected for the Digicel Kick-Start Clinic which was held on the island of Barbados under the tutorage of the Liverpool and England football legend, John Barnes. He attended trials with Chelsea International Football Club. In that same year Mr French also secured the class two male Championships in Track and Field at the Saddlers Secondary school. Outside of the sporting arenas Xavier enjoys studying with Young Explorers Bible Study Group. He describes himself as “Passionate, Positive, Determined and Hardworking.” I want to train young persons in the community and school, and remind them that being respectful is an important part of leading” Xavier said.
