Students Donated Their Halloween Candy to Troops Westside Elementary School students collected 241.5 pounds of candy through their Military Halloween Candy Challenge! The students could donate their candy the week after the holiday. The class who donated the most pounds of candy won an extra day of gym class. Ryan Nichols, 4th grade teacher and former Marine, lead his class to victory – they won the challenge by bringing in 36 pounds of candy! All of the donated candy was given to Operation Gratitude, a group that sends care packages to members of the U.S. Military. Great job to the Westside Eagles for making meaning by connecting their actions with others in the community and world!
