Students Hold Election, Build Tepee At Corinth This Week Nov. 4 was a busy day at Corinth. On Election Day, kindergartners cast their ballot in a special election. The students were invited to vote for which animal they thought made the best pet: cats or dogs. The activity served as a way to talk about the differences between facts and opinions. It was also an opportunity to talk about the right to vote. This year, dogs won the election, but the outcome is different each year, teacher Melissa Molteni said. At the conclusion of the day, several parents expressed that they enjoyed discussing the shared experience of voting with their students. On the same day, second-graders at Corinth welcomed a visitor from the Ernie Miller Nature Center, who came to talk to students about Native Americans. On the Corinth grounds, students worked with their guest speaker to build a tepee. As they worked together, they learned about the history, design, and construction of the dwelling. The activity coincided with second-grade curriculum that includes study of Plains Indians.
