Students travel abroad for many reasons, for holidays, to do - TopicsExpress

Students travel abroad for many reasons, for holidays, to do voluntary work, or for their study programme, Many international students also travel overseas to visit friends and family between semesters. Post-travel illness upsets study plans, could result in medical care costs and the loss of earnings from part-time work. From a public health perspective of course, prevention is better than cure, and it’s important to stop diseases such as measles entering New Zealand, as they may cause outbreaks. At the moment though, we don’t know how or why students access pre-travel health advice before travelling abroad, what health services are available to protect them, or the roles and responsibilities of universities in promoting travel health advice. If you’ve travelled abroad whilst studying at university, or plan to do so in the next six months, Dr.Penny Neave from the Department of Public Health at AUT would like you to complete a survey to give her your thoughts about these issues. Ethical approval has been obtained for the research. The link to the survey is here: https://surveymonkey/s/studentravel, and by completing the survey, you can enter a prize draw for a food voucher.
