Studio Sommelier Jesse Rodriguez has selected his favorite summer rosé for you. Read about his top three below along with his suggested perfect pairings: Domaines Ott, Château de Selle, Côtes de Provence, France 2013 Château de Selle was the first of the three estates acquired by Marcel Ott in 1912. It shares its gravel, sandstone and dolomite laden soiled home to grapes, olives, lavender and mulberry trees. This area produces highly distinguished and elegant wines. Located on the high chalky inland slopes of the area, grenache composes the majority of this blend giving it a full-bodied texture, Cinsault adds a delicately rounded touch, while Syrah gives this rosé its rich color. This pale rosé has tension of peach, lemon, cinnamon and vanilla notes. Good with Bouillabaisse, better with a bed of grilled vegetables topped with poached Sole and finished with lemon and garlic parsley oil. Ameztoi, Txakolina, Spain 2013 Ameztoi has been one of the top producers of Getariako Txakolina. Ignacio Ameztoi, is the seventh generation to take on the herculean task of keeping to his families tradition of world class wines from the San Sebastian region. This rosé is composed of Hondurabi Zuri and Hondurabi Beltz, indigenous varietals found in Spain’s Basque Country. It is bottled with a little residual carbon dioxide to give it a light spritz. Its flavor consists of candied currants and lime and its clean refreshing profile can be highly addictive. Great with light summer canapés, consisting of tuna and salmon. Clos Alivu, Patrimonio, Corsica, France 2013 Patrimonio is Corsica’s oldest and best-known appellation and Clos Alivu is a small fragment of this AOP’s home on the island. Composed of a mere 3 hectares, this warm sun sprayed region has favorable winds, which allow for environmentally friendly agricultural practices. The philosophy of limiting the use of herbicides and pesticides, ensure that the grapes ripen perfectly for the harvest. This rosé is composed of Nielluccio which is known as Sangiovese in Italy, producing a salmon hued wine with floral and cherry tones. Fantastic with Charcuteries, Cheese and finished with its usual tablemates of nuts, honey and fruit compote.
