Study in Germany (1) Facts from the Talk of Dr. Guido Schnieders of DAAD Kuala Lumpur held at German-Malaysia Society Penang, on Dec 4, 2014: 1. Four of us were the only so called Malay in this crowded event. :D 2. DAAD is a non governmental organization who spending German government money, which is about an amount of EUR 67 Mil per year. Daad also not an agent that interested in making money from scholars search for education/research. 3. In German, most of the education budgets are funded by the state government. A new passed regulation said it is illegal if a university taking tuition fee. 4. German universities started to introduce the course that use English as medium but very limited, there are about 1000 courses are offered now but very limited for the undergraduate courses. 5. The budgets for Universities and non-University organizations in German about 4 time bigger that the Malaysian state budget. 6. The universities are autonomous body, and therefore no government interruption, including the right of making decision and regulation on the students admission. 7. With about 4 Mil Muslim population in German, it helps Muslim from over the world to settling down in German. 8. Most the entering requirements for International students are set to UKs A-Level. IB is acceptable, but mostly must be checked with the destination universities. Unfortunately, the SAT (US certificate) is not accepted, as well as SAM (Australian Matriculation). 9. You need a 4 subjects of A-Level that include an AS of a Language Subject and it is not necessarily Germany. 10. You also need a TOEFL/IELTS certificate 11. If you are an International students, or a Germany who went to International School in German or outside German, you need to prove a C1 Level German Language certificate.
