Study of the Acts of the Apostles Ch. 27: 3/4 The next day we put in at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him leave to go to his friends and be cared for. 4 And putting out to sea from there we sailed under the lee of Cyprus (ESV) Notes: 1) Julius treated Paul kindly Julius the Centurion Officer in charge must have been an Officer with an even temper and was a kind person. Many of the C.O.s I met at the local prison where I volunteered for 12 years were nice men and women. Most were kind-hearted and treated the men there in a fair way. They treated us well. I learned years ago if you want people in authority to treat you fair, treat them fair and respect the authority they have been granted in order to do their jobs. I suspect Paul showed Julius respect and to a degree won his confidence and trust. Thats a good model for our society today. When I think of the men and women protecting and serving the public, the ones I know are true servants and deserve our respect and prayers. Even if you are treated unfairly or unkindly you can use kindness to minimize problems when dealing with those in authority.
