Stumble out of bed, grab a cup of coffee, hoping to get at least a few sips before the kids wake up....... As I sit down, the cat immediately leaps onto my lap, doing his usual routine of headbutting, kneading and loud purring. The dog jostles for space, nudging my elbow, trying to get his head squeezed under my arm, thumping his tail and I mutter: come on guys, give it a rest, give me a chance to wake up.....and from the door comes a little voice: they want petting, thats their job. Actually thats why pets were invented, its why theyre called pets, didnt you know? Yet again floored by the logic of an eight year old
