Stunning comment by my wife: Abusers hate details. Thats because they hide in what is vague. They take small kernels of truth and weave massive lies and omissions through them, to prop themselves up on and hide their true nature. What he says: I tried to save my marriage, but she just gave up. What he doesnt say: Ive beat her down for years and years and made her feel like a worthless waste of time. And then I expect her to come running back to me with some roses or yet another empty promise of change. Dig deep into the facts and details and that is where the abuse will be hiding. They can and will cover themselves in generalizations, in order to look like good, decent human beings. You want to shine the light of truth on them? Bring out the details. In them, they cant hide and its in them that their true nature reveals itself.
