Stuyvesant “Jack” Peabody was the son of Francis S. Peabody - TopicsExpress

Stuyvesant “Jack” Peabody was the son of Francis S. Peabody who built Mayslake Peabody Estate. He owned a stable and ran a racetrack at his farm in Romeoville, IL. Since people watching the races wanted food, he opened a restaurant on Route 66A and called it White Fence Farm. In the spring of 1954, Robert and Doris Hastert purchased the farm. They did extensive remodeling and enlarged it into one of the best-known restaurants in northern Illinois. The short menu features fried chicken and corn fritters. A museum in the lobby area displays clocks, dolls, and other antiques, some dating back to when Mr. Peabody owned the business. The photos of the restaurant were taken between 1936 and 1942.
