Sual bet is Limgas 2014 Best in Talent Lingayen – Jacqueline Macatiag of Sual town bagged the Best in Talent award of Limgas na Pangasinan 2014 during the pre-pageant held April 25 at the Sison Auditorium, here. Macatiag, a 22-year-old beauty, got the judges nod and captured the crowd’s overwhelming attention when she danced a hip hop piece and later showcased flexibility of curves in a jaw-dropping belly-dancing performance. She bested 24 other candidates in the talent showdown that was held after the grand parade of festival costumes depicting their products (One-Town-One-Product (OTOP) as well as the major industries and tourist destinations of the towns and cities in the province. “I gave it my best. I actually only prepared the dance in just two days straight at walang nagturo sa akin,” Macatiag said. She was also voted by local media men as “Darling of the Press” during the media presentation held March 24 at the Urduja House. “My talent is who I am. It’s me inside… am showing the world who I am and what I’m capable of -- that made me so proud and happy with the support of my family and everyone who believes in me,” she added, admitting her feeling surprised when she was declared best in talent. Provincial Treasurer Marilou Utanes, Chairperson of Limgas na Pangasinan 2014 search said the pre-pageant was a display of the aggressive tourism promotions of municipal and city LGUs through the OTOP scheme. “The talent showdown, on the other hand, showcased the innate talent and artistic skills each Limgas na Pangasinan candidate possesses,” she added. Reigning Binibining Pilipinas Tourism Parul Shah, who traces roots in San Nicolas and Tayug towns, took part in the parade of festival costumes and later served as member of the board of judges. The 24-year-old Pangasinan beauty queen received a commendation resolution (Provincial Resolution No. 176-2014) from Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. in recognition of her notable victory in the 2014 Bb. Pilipinas pageant. Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. had personally congratulated Shah in a courtesy call held earlier where the beauty titlist expressed gratitude over the full-support she received from the provincial government and from Pangasinenses.
