Subj: Tafsir TaHa w/IWDM tafsir 1994 Washington, D.C. Bismillah For those studying the commentary Sura 20 ... youtube/watch?v=dBkD0YzDAzk Im sharing the notes from IWDM on the word RAHMA/RAHMAAN/ARHAAM. In the you.tube the muftasir explains in the intro. that the word RAHMAAN is an hyperbolized form of the word Rahman. He then explains the depth of this word as it appears in the linking Suras (17-21). EnshaAllah, you have listened to the tafsir and are aware of what Im talking about. Further, he explains, RAHMAAN (conceptual) is like love from mother that joins the relationship between she and her child. This word RAHMAN, is repeated frequently throughout these suras. It is used in the sense of bringing two things together, as a parable, as a standard. IWDM (1994 Washington, D.C.): PARENT SUGGESTIVE IN THE WORD LORD (Rabb)...RABBI AL AMEEN. IWDM (12/17/1999 Masjid Bilal Cleveland, Ohio): ...Then (Warhamnaa) its a little bit more now, to pardon me is to excuse me, excuse me means Im not going to bother you right now, right? If you just get on away from me man, you wont get hurt. Then (Wagh-ferlanaa) thats stronger, forgive me, mean I wont be coming back at you. (Warhamnaa) means do good by me even though you have no obligation to do it. You have no obligation on you to do good by me, I want you to do go by me, thats mercy, (Warhamnaa) and be merciful to us. [Anta maulana] You are our Protection, Protector, [Warhamnaa] You are our Protector, with all of this Revelation on the power of the soul, power of the intellect, we come back to recognize that we have limitations and without G-d we are helpless, we need Him always as our Protector. IWDM (Jumah Khutbah, Atlanta, Georgia): MERCY: Every chapter of this book opens with attributes of G-d both carrying the meaning of Mercy AR RAHMAN AR RAHEEM BISMILLAH: NAME OF G-D The Beneficient they translate it and they translate it also the MERCIFUL...THE COMPASSIONATE, SOME of them translate it like that. It has both the meaning of giving abundantly. Giving without restrictions on the giving -- Giving freely and abundantly. Thats AR RAHMAN and that is also MERCY. The root word is MERCY. RAHMA--MERCY. RAHMAN and RAHEEM. RAHEEM means the continuing of that MERCY even after it has been cut off that it will be returned. The MERCY is cut off but then it returns and it continues the MERCY. The MERCY of G-D continues. [T]he bodies of our mothers is called ARHAAM . The plural for RAHMA, it is called ARHAAM...and we are born of their bodies. Thats an indication to us that the first MERCY is the gift of life.
