Subject: Matthew 16:18-19 (2/5) Overview of 1/5 Always remember that Jesus did taught the early Christian in parables: Matthew 13:34 Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables, and He would not speak anything to them without a parable, 35 so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled: I will open My mouth in parables; I will declare things kept secret from the foundation of the world.[h]_____Holman Christian Standard Bible ******************************************************** 2. I will build my church __________2/5 It is clear that the founder of Church was Jesus Christ, as it was clearly said in the bible. So there is only one church,in this case this church was built in a place where Jesus were talking to His apostles, and it was in Jerusalem and not in any other place, the origin, as we say, of the church whom Jesus built was not in any other place on the face of the earth. If it happened that this church reaches up to almost part of the world, it does not mean people there had their own church because. The word church was composed of people being called-out into light from darkness (Acts26:18).Somebody was calling and that was the owner or in the position as the church builder, no other than Jesus Christ. In some bible translations those people that has been called to hear according to the Lords purposed (Rom. 8:28), as, congregation, people of God, multitude, flock, assembly of God, etc., that consist of a church, or whatever that word translated. ***The question is, why Jesus said I will build My Church? *** As we have studied, church, congregation, flock, multitude, etc, or if there was little misunderstanding of what the word means, it clearly says, the people of God, the chosen one nation as commonly use in the olden time. Lets go back to the question (why Jesus said I will build My Church?) Does it mean that only during the time of Jesus was this group of people exists? The answer is no, because there was already a congregation during the time of Moses, --------------> Acts 7:38 He is the one who was in the congregation in the wilderness together with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors. He received living oracles to give to us. ___HSCB ****Acts 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: ____KJV congregation ___ ESV @@@@@@@@@@@ What happened to this congregation, or flock, or the people of God, or house of God? In the book of Jeremiah God forsake His people and let this nation (Israel) be destroy because of disobedience, Jeremiah 12 7 I have abandoned My house; I have deserted My inheritance. I have given the love of My life into the hands of her enemies. 8 My inheritance has acted toward Me like a lion in the forest. She has roared against Me. Therefore, I hate her. 9 Is My inheritance like a hyena[e] to Me? Are birds of prey circling her? Go, gather all the wild animals; bring them to devour her. 10 Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trampled My plot of land. They have turned My desirable plot into a desolate wasteland. 11 They have made it a desolation. It mourns, desolate, before Me. All the land is desolate, but no one takes it to heart. 12 Over all the barren heights in the wilderness the destroyers have come, for the Lord has a sword that devours from one end of the earth to the other. No one has peace. 13 They have sown wheat but harvested thorns. They have exhausted themselves but have no profit. Be put to shame by your harvests because of the Lord’s burning anger. 14 This is what the Lord says: “Concerning all My evil neighbors who attack the inheritance that I bequeathed to My people, Israel, I am about to uproot them from their land, and I will uproot the house of Judah from them. 15 After I have uprooted them, I will once again have compassion on them and return each one to his inheritance and to his land. 16 If they will diligently learn the ways of My people—to swear by My name, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ just as they taught My people to swear by Baal—they will be built up among My people. 17 However, if they will not obey, then I will uproot and destroy that nation.”_________HSCB They were fallen________________that congregation, assembly, flock, etc. was fallen: ** Hosea 14:9 Let whoever is wise understand these things, and whoever is insightful recognize them. For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. HSCB Hosea 14: 1 Israel, return to Yahweh your God, for you have stumbled in your sin. 2 Take words of repentance with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him: “Forgive all our sin and accept what is good, so that we may repay You with praise[a] from our[b] lips. ____HSCB ********* O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. ___Hosea 1:1 KJV More on how they were fallen? _________to be continue (still on 2/5)
