Subject: West Petrie Bypass (MBRC) Eligibility: Queensland residents Sponsoring Member: The Clerk of the Parliament Principal Petitioner: Rod Ridley 1081 Dayboro Road WHITESIDE QLD 4503 Number of Signatures: 225 Posting Date: 23/08/2013 Closing Date: 14/10/2013 Do you wish to sign this E-Petition? Yes Email this link to a colleague TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the following: At the Moreton Bay Regional Council meeting held on July 30th 2013 council voted to "lobby State and Federal governments to secure SIGNIFICANT MAJORITY funding to construct OPTION G of the West Petrie Bypass, estimated cost 125 million dollars". The construction of this four lane road through North Pine Country Park will have a serious impact on the natural amenity of this great community asset, negatively affect the viability of the many small business operating within Old Petrie Town and destroy a significant grove of 300 year old Moreton Bay Fig trees. A large proportion of the proposed route is through high significance koala habitat, this will require Federal Government approval to proceed. To date Moreton Bay Regional Council has conducted minimal community engagement in relation to this significant proposed project and we have grave concerns in the validity of their latest Benefit Cost Analysis provided by consultants GHD. Your petitioners therefore request the House to reject any request by Moreton Bay Regional Council for "significant majority funding" for OPTION G. There are other options that are affordable and acceptable to the community and our environment.
