Subjective observation: The 2014 CAMPBELLIAN ANTHOLOGY included selections from the Hachette Book Group (Orbit) and Amazon (47 North). Every writer accepted the same contract, and both parent companies allowed their writers to participate. Equal footing. No exceptions. My impression is that neither Amazon nor Hachette is entirely evil... but for the sake of their investors, both want to turn a profit. Such turning of profits is a reasonable goal. Unless income exceeds expenditure, a business goes under. Businesses are not altruistic. Whose interests are served in a financial dispute? Always that of the investors. Dont kid yourself: Readers are the real commodity.
