Submission Earthly Submission: She hears the old truck pull into the driveway and her 6 year old heart begins to pound. She races to her room to check it one last time before ‘Daddy’ arrives. She hears the door slam shut and a rough loud voice bellows down the hall and through the house, ‘Where are you? Is that room clean?’ She returns to the living room where his large rough hand jerks her back down the hall to her bedroom. ‘%#&* is this the best you can do?’ he says jerking her back and forth. ‘Work on this mess some more.’ ‘If you don’t get this %#@& mess straight by suppertime, to bad for you.’ She begins to rearrange the room finding new places to put her things. She hopes in her heart that she gets it just right this time because if it’s not just right that rough hand will again jerk her around. Heavenly Submission: She hears the old truck pull onto the driveway and stop. She runs to the door to wait for her Daddy. He opens the door and reaches down with his big rough hand and pulls her close for a hug. ‘Did you get your room clean?’ ‘Yes’, she answers ‘I did the best I could.’ They walk together to her little room, her little hand in hers. He looks over the 6 year olds version of a cleanup. ‘Hmm, did you miss a bit maybe?’ He walks to be bed and sits. He points out things out of place or things may be over looked. She rearranges and picks up the few things out of place. He calls her to him and holds her close. ‘I missed my Baby today; you have done a good job.’ Let me go and we’ll visit at supper.’ ‘I love you Daddy.’ ‘I love you too Baby.’ Ephesians 5:22-33 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.’
