Submit, Study, Evolve... I was asked, what to do as Afrikan - TopicsExpress

Submit, Study, Evolve... I was asked, what to do as Afrikan people, to change our situation... this is what I do. First off, we need to belong to an organization that is doing work in our community. Whatever your ideology (Ours is Scientific Pan Afrikanism), find like minds and build. Those orgs hopefully have a study component and a hands-on community outreach component. But even a bad organization is better than no organization. Secondly, we need to study study study... its easy to judge past decisions and perceived errors in strategy when you dont know what the climate was like - history must always be put in context, and you can only do that by immersing yourself in the times through as many sources as you can find. And we need, more than anything, to get in touch with our culture, pre-invasion Afrikan culture, to see what we knew/know and infuse that back within ourselves. This can only be thoroughly achieved through study. Third, we must do our best to embody the best of all the information we have gathered. Its of no use to us or our people to walk around regurgitating facts/opinions without applying them to our life to make us better. Actions speak louder than words. We must constantly strive to do and be better. My group facilitates this through our brotherhood and sisterhood societies. We hold each other accountable and spend much time around each other. If you cant name three things that you do considerably better than you did 12 months ago, youre wasting time... we must get better and that is best done through others.
