Success! So last year in May my iPad Id had for a month got stolen out of my car whilst I was at work. Ive been spitting blood for ages about it and found out I still had 8 months left to pay it off. I went through my last bill and noticed id been paying for unused data ASWELL as the handset. I wrote up all the figures and dates, scripted what I was going to say to make sure my points where clear and concise, had another script ready for incase they werent gonna budge and made sure I took a name and reference number date and time for the call. I spoke to the lady in a polite manner and explained how I wasnt happy Id been paying for wasted data and didnt mind if I had a cash credit or data credited to my mobile (as recommended by the ombudsman website, provide more than one solution where possible). I ended up having paid $259 in unused data, and had $208 remaining on the handset. They are going to pay off the remaining handset with my refund and remove the charges from my bill going forward, and credit the remaining amount to my account. Im really happy because this has been a pain in my butt for so long and I never knew how to tackle it because I often get really confused and flustered and give up. But it goes to show if you have a valid concern, you should prepare yourself and your documents/ proof and speak up! Too many people dont, but if you genuwinely have reasonable belief that something is wrong, do your research and ask the questions :) Im soooo happy! Once I receive my new/updated bill Im going to send a compliment to the lady that helped me. I know we all bag on call centres, but I like to give thanks back when Ive spoken to people who are genuinely helpful :)
