Successfully completed first year of residency and entering senior year. Its been a fun filled ride. Cannot believe its been a year already. Exciting times ahead. Amazing learning and knowledge curve improvement within this one year. Gone are duty hour regulations too - first day of second year is a 28 hour call Hopefully I will be able to guide my juniors and keep learning as well, just how my seniors did. Its been a happy bunch of my co interns and I had privilege to work with most of the seniors. Hope we can keep this intensity for next two Years of residency. Its funny how medicine is viewed from outside. At 26, I have just finished first year of PG and looking at another 4-6 years of training. But this is a different experience altogether which people in other professions can hardly realize. Training 10000 miles away from home is very tough but the biggest gain is the confidence we gained in this one year. Its also tough when you work 70-80 hours every week for 6-7 years of training. When you do a job continuously for one year, you dont realize how much you learnt. After interacting for 10 minutes with my juniors, I exactly knew what I have learnt in this one year. Thank you parents, friends and all my patients who have dealt my strong indian accent yet interacted with me every day and night.
