Succumbing to the flesh really takes no effort from us at all; - TopicsExpress

Succumbing to the flesh really takes no effort from us at all; suffice to say it even borders on the predictable. The flesh seems to always try to run interference by telling us how to act when we are overwhelmed by negative feelings. Clearly, emotions are a part of life, but they shouldn’t control life and the heart can be very deceiving. The truth is that we decide how we are going to respond and that’s why it’s important to seek the face of God when we’re feeling a particular way. This will help us to put away our fleshly impulsive reactions and draw on His spirit. It’s not wise or beneficial to collapse into self-centered victimization or carnal temptation with dealing with harmful emotions by relinquishing power to them. God doesn’t diminish our feelings— He gave them to us to use properly, therefore we can’t allow feelings that are oftentimes temporary to launch the heart into bitterness, un-forgiveness, hatred, depression, isolation, shame, guilt and so on. God wants our emotional side to be filled with love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance He says against such there is no law. Fighting the flesh without God is fundamentally impossible, and it is only through Him that it is. We must build our emotions spiritually and under His word because living in a natural world requires us to do battle every day. We can’t keep using the flesh as the reason to behave contrary to what He says. Crucifying the flesh isn’t always easy, but it is necessary when the ultimate goal is to follow Christ and live life victoriously…Lynne Nelson-Griggs #galatians5isineffect# #Jeremiah17:9isineffect#
