Such a revealing week for American group think. Ebola panic is totally manufactured by the corporate media. Then competitively spread, louder and louder, by our corrupt political parties. MSNBC, CNN, and Foxnews are trying to scare us. Because they profit off people getting scared by this bullshit. Then politicians try to exploit peoples ignorance for a few cheap political points and a swell of self-righteousness. At which point people with absolutely no medical understanding, trusting the authority of shameless profiteers in the media and politics, spread hysteria like a wildfire through social media. Which only increases the medias incentive to scare them further. Until it reaches a point where a totally reasonable President is forced to halt his entire schedule so he can pander to a dangerously ignorant mob. Hes going to spend a whole day dealing with a crisis he knows for a fact is totally benign. This is a microcosm of how, even when we have smart and responsible people in charge, we perpetuate futile wars and pour billions into a self-defeating drug war. Theres simply too much for corporations and politicians to gain from exploiting the general ignorance of the public. Our only hope is Rupert Murdoch contracting ebola.
