Suck it, Hernstein and Murray (authors of The Bell Curve). For decades, a common argument against evolution is that it is scientific racism. At a time when eugenics was popular (1860s-1940s), the theory of evolution was abused by millions of citizens, politicians, and scientists to explain why certain races were supposedly superior/inferior to others. Mainly because of misinterpretation of survival of the fittest. The fittest does not and never has meant the smartest, the strongest, or the best; it just meant your group adapted to the needs of its environment. As humans migrated from Africa to Europe, they became more light-skinned. Why? In a colder, cloudier climate, humans had to rely less on Vitamin D from sunlight and more from their diet. Another possible explanation for why humans developed blue eyes was to enable them to see better in darker conditions. Theories for why curled hair is more common in hot climates is to allow increased air flow to cool ones head off. Nothing in the research to say that human races are inherently different in intellectual capability, physical capability, or morality. Any differences that are present can be explained better by socioeconomic inequalities.
