Sudans Ambassador to UN Refutes US Representative Accusations Khartoum - Sudans representative to UN, Ambassador Hassan Hamid has refuted statements by US ambassador to UNSC on Darfur, saying the latter has attempted to misinform the Council in order to remain silent on the flagrant violations committed by rebel groups in areas of Haskanita, Lait Jarelnabi, Towyisha, Kalamndo and Mellit. Hamid said the biased statement by the US representative reflects the American Administrations negative position on the peace process in Darfur. The statement implies the American Administration is giving the green light to rebels to impede implementation of the process in the region, he added, affirming that Sudan would proceed with the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. Informed source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Sudan Vision that the US Administration is behind the recent banning of banking transactions adopted by some Gulf States in order to put Sudan under pressure as a punishment against the latters improved relations with Iran. The source confirmed that there will be no retreat from Doha forum to resolve Darfur crisis. The source added that what is required now is to expedite the implementation of the DDPD as an approach to maintain peace and stability in Darfur.
