Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party’s (NCP) Shura Council - TopicsExpress

Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party’s (NCP) Shura Council has selected President, Omer Hassan Al Bashir, as party candidate for the 2015 election. However, there are enormous necessities that require nominating Al Bashir for another presidential term considering that the constitution allows for him to run the presidential race. The current stage which Sudan is passing necessitates for Al Bashir to continue in his position to continue the national consensus project launched by him last January. It is true that the national dialogue process became the states policy and the NCP policy, but President Al Bashir endeavors to reunite Sudanese people in general through his initiatives in this regard. The Presidents should seize this opportunity to rethink in the formation of an acceptable national government considering that such step will encourage other political parties to participate and enter into understandings with the NCP. It is definite that the upcoming election is linked to the expected political compromise and if Al Bashir managed to convince the opposition to participate in a national government, then any talk about April 2015 election will be futile. The national or transitional government is supposed to make the constitution of the state considering its relation to the political compromise. The recent corrective move of President Al Bashir and his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt resulted to positive developments in Sudans relations with its regional domain and it is high time to continue such steps which might lead to lifting sanctions imposed on the country. The Sudanese diplomacy must work hard in the upcoming stage to remove any misunderstanding between Sudan and the international community in general. Internally, President Al Bashir should direct expediting the national dialogue through removing any obstacles and responding to the balanced conditions of the opposition forces to allow for healthy and fruitful dialogue that lays the foundations for a modern state.
