Sue Ross has made some good progress. When I got to ICU today, Sue was still on the ventilator , delivering 30% oxygen but machine reset so that Sue was taking all breaths on her own !! for sats of 94/95 % Wow , fantastic step forward !! ,ET tube may be able to be removed in a few days, the doctors really dont want to do a trachy if possible but I am sure this would have happened today if she had not improved . Still sedated but a bit more awake than yesterday, blinking to answer yes and able to shake her head slightly for no. Creatinine improved today, down to 94 from 160. Absorbing feeds and no fevers but still issues with blood pressure, went up to 199/97 , possibly they think because Sue was agitated with the change in sedation and breathing . Given IV metoprolol and a bolus of morphine Infusion to help with BP, which came down to 150/87 but the morphine reduced her respirations to 6 / min so the ventilator was re started for a while to breathe for her . BP went back up again so given Clonidine. Doctors came and decided to re site her arterial line from foot to wrist so a more accurate check can be kept on her BP also they decided to take out the central line and put in a PICC line, all good steps forward, looks like Sue is on the road to recovery ,nurses are amazed as they all know how sick she was and not expected to survive , I told her today she still has places to go and people to see, lovely of Mandy Curran to visit again today , Sue has lovely friends / work colleagues , thanks to my friends in DS for a little supportive chat this afternoon , hope tomorrow brings more changes for the better xxxxxxxxx
