Suffering with Anger Management Issues? VA can help. Anger Management issues can prevent a Veteran from meaningfully engaging with a residential treatment program, and can negatively impact the entire milieu. While some Veterans will benefit from counseling about how to apply some familiar cognitive behavioral tools to better their anger, some Veterans may need a more comprehensive Anger Management program that they could work on at their own pace. To help address this need, VA has launched a new online self-help course Anger & Irritability Skills (AIMS). This confidential, self-paced program is based on Cognitive Behavioral treatment and features insights from more than 20 years of clinical work with diverse groups including male and female Veterans from all eras and branches of service. AIMS offers a wide range of practical skills and tools to help Veterans learn to manage their anger and develop self-control over their thoughts and actions. It includes videos of 8 Veteran Mentors who have successfully learned to manage their anger using the tools in the AIMS program, as well as a variety of games and exercises designed to help the user stick with the program.
