Suffolk County is proud to be home to the largest number of veterans in New York State. However, Suffolk also has one of the largest populations of homeless veterans. This week I signed into law four bills authored by Legislator Steve Stern, known as the Housing Our Homeless Heroes Act, to protect our veterans from housing discrimination, provide additional housing resources and enhance services to streamline efforts across all government and non-profit agencies so that we can put an end to veteran homelessness.
