Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a lightning strike in the 100 block of Bennetts Creek Landing this evening. Dispatchers were notified of the incident at 7:49 p.m. A lightning strike hit a pine tree and shot over to the gutters of the home with several entry points. There was no fire from the strike, however, an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 of damage was done to the exterior of the home along with electronics inside the home. There was no fire reported and no injuries sustained. A neighboring home had damage to a sprinkler system from the same lightning strike. Power was temporarily off in the neighborhood but has been restored. Engine 5, Ladder 5, Engine 25, Battalion 2, and Medic 5 responded to the call.
