Sullivan County Regional Health Department is currently giving flu vaccines in the school systems. The flu vaccine can prevent you from contracting the illness and it can make the illness less severe if it is contracted. This can decrease the number of hospitalizations and deaths from the flu. While protecting you from the flu, it also helps protects those around you. Those with chronic illness and infants under 6 months of age need this extra protection. Women who receive the vaccine during pregnancy can provide protection for the baby for up to 6 months. Remaining Flu School Clinics: October 6-7 Bristol TN City School System October 8-10 Kingsport City School System October 13-17 Sullivan County School System Consent forms have already been sent home. Parents should have received and returned the forms back to the school if they desire that their child receive the vaccine during these school based clinics.
