Sumlar (Bandipora), Nov 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sunday reiterated his demand for a political solution to the vexed Kashmir issue while seeking absolute mandate from people to “end the coalition system of governance” in the State. Omar termed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “the party of thieves which has given shelter to all those officers who are involved in wrongdoings.” While naming former SSP Srinagar Ashiq Bukhari, Omar said the “PDP has given shelter to the top SOG officer Ashiq Bukhari while chattering for human rights. Their General Secretary has been sentenced for three years in a manure scam.” The Chief Minister, who was addressing an election rally in Sumlar area of this north Kashmir district, said his party National Conference has “always seen Kashmir as a political issue and will never rest till it achieves the political solution to it with honour and dignity.” “NC always worked for rights of common people. People should also remember the sacrifices of NC leadership and support the party,” he said, seeking a clear mandate from the party to end, what he called, coalition system of governance in the State. “Coalition system of government is a nuisance and people alone can end it,” he said. “The National Conference is seeking votes from people on the basis of work and development we initiated in the state.” He said the NC-led government constructed PHCs in Ajas Chuntimullah, 50 water supply schemes, 11 Irrigations Schemes and more than 40 roads in Bandipora in the past six years. He said: “I played with my chair and government but got the public aspirations fulfilled while establishing the administrative units. The Bandipora assembly constituency got three thesils, four CD Blocks and five Naiyabats to bridge the public-government gap.” Omar said his government made the return of Kashmir youth, who has crossed over the LOC, possible. He alleged that sitting MLA Bandipora Nizamudin Bhat and his party PDP sabotaged sabotaging various developmental and political issues which could have been beneficial for people. “Whenever I initiated any broad development for Bandipora, the local MLA created hurdles in the process,” he said. Later, Omar addressed a rally at Aloosa Bandipora where he slammed the PDP for “befooling public with false slogans.” Terming PDP as “the party of thieves”, Omar said “all tainted officers who are involved in various cases have got shelter in PDP.” “Wherever there are tainted officers, they take shelter in PDP, be it Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Srinagar, Budgam, Kupwara; everywhere they have picked thieves or corrupt people,” he said. “They accused me of murdering Haji Yousuf and when I appointed an officer to probe it, they raised hue and cry that that the officer is corrupt. And the same officer whom PDP termed corrupt then is now their candidate from Karnah. Their own General Secretary should have been in custody today but the court has given him a bail,” he said. Omar said that PDP has fielded “robbers” as their candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections. “Chawal ka chor Srinagar Mein umedwar; Khaad ka chor Rafiabad mai; Zameen (Gulmarg Zameen) Ka Chor Baderwah mai umedwar. This is the situation out of power; on acquiring power what can be the situation you can guess yourself,” he said. Omar urged people to vote for National Conference candidate for Bandipora, Muhammad Abdullah Wani. Meanwhile, Bandipora Traders Federation President Muhammad Yousuf Para and Sarpanch Sumlar joined NC in presence of Chief Minster.
