Summary For Lesson 4 - Divine Wisdom Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Ps. 139:23, 24) Give Them All To Jesus - https://youtube/watch?v=6k5DKcmKAwI Throughout this week the Lord reminded us He is the source of true wisdom. It is not our intellectual ability that provides us the avenue to rightly apply the knowledge that we have gain through study and our personal experience. While Jesus walked on this earth He demonstrated to us how we should again wisdom. Every day we should spend time in the study of God works so that He words can pierce into the sub consciousness and consciousness of our minds. Every day we should surrender our own desires to gratify self to the total control of the Holy Spirit. We must seek to allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. At the same time we must flee the very appearance of evil. Then, like Jesus, the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth and help us to apply truth in the correct way. Jesus reminded in John 14:6 that He is the source of truth. This is why person who have never attended formal school can become a powerful evangelist. Look at Peter. He was a fisherman. Not just a fisherman but a very arrogant and loud mouth fisherman. But look what happen to Him on the day of Pentecost. Peter, while in the upper room, surrender every area of His life to the total control of the Holy Spirit and look at the result. Filled with the Holy Spirit, God was able to use him preach a gospel that resulted in the baptism of over 3,000 souls. Sometime we are tempted to look at Peter and the work that He did on the day of Pentecost. Sometimes our focus is to elevate Peter. But I believe that at time we miss the real point of this story. Here God is showing us His power. He can take anyone who surrenders themselves to Him and use that persons to do a might work for Him. Where should all the praise go? It should not go to Peter. All the praise goes to God. Peter was just an instrument being used in the Hand of the Master Builder. While God was using Peter to spread the everlasting gospel, Peter’s character was getting better at the same time. This is the power of the working for the Master. This morning the Lord wants us to focus our attention on the fact that all wisdom comes from Him and unless we are willing to surrender our all to Him we will never become wise. Sis White said, “ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1. If . . . thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. Matthew 6:22. Singleness of purpose, wholehearted devotion to God, is the condition pointed out by the Saviours words. Let the purpose be sincere and unwavering to discern the truth and to obey it at whatever cost, and you will receive divine enlightenment. Real piety begins when all compromise with sin is at an end. Then the language of the heart will be that of the apostle Paul: This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ. Philippians 3:13, 14, 8. But when the eye is blinded by the love of self, there is only darkness. If thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. It was this fearful darkness that wrapped the Jews in stubborn unbelief, making it impossible for them to appreciate the character and mission of Him who came to save them from their sins. Yielding to temptation begins in permitting the mind to waver, to be inconstant in your trust in God. If we do not choose to give ourselves fully to God then we are in darkness. When we make any reserve we are leaving open a door through which Satan can enter to lead us astray by his temptations. He knows that if he can obscure our vision, so that the eye of faith cannot see God, there will be no barrier against sin.” January 18, 2015 Unless We Desire To Know Christ We Will Never Benefit From The Wisdom And Truth That God Offers To Us For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
