Summer 2014 Jr CO_STEP Internships - Meeting Wed. Oct. 9 Noon, Davies Chancellor Room (311) Apply by Nov. 29: "We are excited to announce a great opportunity for students currently studying Environmental Public Health or Occupation Health. Qualified students are encouraged to apply to the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Junior Commissioned Officers Student Training and Extern Program, known as the JRCOSTEP. We are currently seeking motivated and talented students to complete a paid JRCOSTEP in the Environmental Health Officer Category. To find out more details about the application process, please visit the website at: usphs.gov/student/jrcostep.aspx We would like to point out a few differences in the application process this year. Please note the application period is from September 3 – November 29, 2013. No applications will be accepted after this time period. Also, interested students must call the PHS Call Center at 1-800-279-1605 and press option #1 in order to take a short pre-screen survey to determine if they qualify for a JRCOSTEP. If a student is qualified, they will be given an access code and instructions on how to go on-line and complete the application. Student selections will only be done once a year and are typically conducted in January or February. The JRCOSTEP is ideal for a student who can work during the summer months between May and September. The length of a JRCOSTEP is anywhere between 31-90 days. More information on the JRCOSTEP can also be found on-line at: ehopac.org/index.php/information-for-menu2a/students Please note that the lack of U.S. Government appropriations is impacting the information on our websites and our workers at the PHS Call Center. We expect all of these information centers to be fully restored once the government is back in complete operation. We hope you will share this information far and wide! Thank you for your support and collaboration! CAPT David B. Cramer, RS, MPH EHOPAC Marketing & Recruitment Subcommittee Co-Chair Institutional Environmental Health Officer Phoenix Area Indian Health Service"
