Summer Art Institute: Art in 3-D Date: July 21, 2014 - July 25, 2014 Website: maryhillmuseum.org Event Description: Educators and art enthusiasts are invited to join us for a five-day intensive program that strengthens your knowledge of art while integrating the visual arts into your lives—where you work, live and play. This year, Maryhill’s Summer Art Institute will focus on sculpture—work in 3-D. Through lectures, gallery talks, discussion groups, and hands-on activities, participants in the Summer Teacher Institute will analyze how artists use 3-dimensions to create works of art that touch our minds and hearts. Additionally the very nature of this work allows us to look at the intersection of art, science, literature, math and physics and in the process explore interdisciplinary approaches to learning and teaching. The Institute is led by Maryhill’s executive director, Colleen Schafroth. A number of Pacific Northwest artists and writers including sculptors M.J.
