Summer Mission Trip Volunteers Needed 01 First Baptist Church, Chalmette, Louisiana, Launches “Summer Mission Strategy 2014” To Reach St. Bernard, Louisiana “We’re searching for volunteer mission teams who see their mission trip as an opportunity to do the impossible for the glory of God!” -- Dr. John Dee Jeffries, Senior Pastor, FBC-Chalmette Foreign Missions! Two words. Two simple words. But, oh! How they stir the imagination! Provocative images! Romantic images! They fill the mind at the mere mention of these two words. Foreign Missions! See him! The dazzling heathen! He sings an ancient high-pitched hymn as he skips around a sacred stone. See him! He kicks his knees high in a primitive dance, circling a sacred well. Foreign Missions! Those two words enable us to imagine, to visualize, to see images of other people, foreign people, living in other places, foreign lands. Foreign Missions! At the mere mention of those two words we see the soulful eyes of a Mexican peasant, the squinting, sweating eyes of a tribesman in a rice field in China, or the bright eyes of a group of brown-skinned children on a sandy beach of a remote island in the Pacific. Foreign Missions! Missionaries! Unreached People Groups! But suppose, just suppose… …..that the eyes that God would have you see look very much like your own! Suppose He would have you see American eyes! And suppose, just suppose that the person He would have you see does not live on some distant island, but is standing near, very near, to where you live! Perhaps in front of an abandoned K-Mart in an area still suffering from hurricane Katrina! And suppose, just suppose that rather than fly to some distant shore you could drive, perhaps just a few hours away to a place like St. Bernard parish, Louisiana, to mend the spiritual infrastructure of an entire community where a genuine Unreached People Group resides! And suppose, just suppose that you, or your Sunday School class, or ministry team, or VBS, or church, or association could participate – either directly or indirectly – in reaching this Unreached People Group for Christ! Well! Stop supposing! Because you can do all of the above…. First Baptist Church, Chalmette, has developed an intense Summer Mission Strategy that reflects what we believe is God’s vision that will enable us to reach this unreached people group – located in St. Bernard, Louisiana. We are convinced that the involvement of YOUR summer mission team, combined with the efforts of other summer mission teams, will enable us to accomplish the impossible for the glory of God!
