Summer in South East Queensland is a perfect time to fish! And Lake Manchester is soon to be on the list of must-visit fishing places. This Saturday, the Brisbane Valley Anglers Fishstocking Association (BVAFA) is planning the first official fish stocking of Lake Manchester. The lake is located roughly 25 kilometres west of Brisbane and is part of South East Queensland’s drinking water supply, as well as offering recreational facilities for fishing and other outdoor recreation activities. For more activity information visit bit.ly/1gT0WR1 While fishing is permitted from the shoreline of the launch area and from your paddle craft, the lake itself has never officially been stocked. This release of more than 1,000 fingerlings of the endangered Mary River Cod will begin the establishment of a viable recreational fishery in the picturesque lake. If the wait for Lake Manchester is just too long and you want to fish this summer, check out our recreation activities page for other great shoreline and boat fishing spots, permit requirements and state rules and regulations. bit.ly/1viH78H As always, be sure to play it safe if visiting any of our dams, lakes and parks.
