Summer is a Sprint Marathon: We have flown through our sunny spring and have finally encountered the warm weather we love so much. Motorcycles are tuned up, picnic baskets have been un-earthed and the beautiful array of our young children are handpicking flowers to delight their parents. This update will be written with the same carefree nature that the last month has greeted us with; an astounding blur of joy, blessings, events, and reflections. Here goes the random and colorful conglomeration of wonderfulness. Kiddos are out of school! Woo hoo!, and just few paces behind them followed Katie, Enrique and my papa. There were a smash of birthday’s in June which we happily celebrated on many occasions separately and at least on one occasion together. Nana led the birthday pack, Amy and I sandwiched in the middle, with Katie only hours behind. There were 108 sun salutations (and sore arms), and cakes, and flowers, and sunbathing, and pond frolicking. Lots of chatter, kids on blankets, dogs on blankets, musical chair like car-pooling, deliciously contrived foods and at least one duplicate salad of stolen nature. There were concerts to be taken in too, and celebrities to meet. Leyla, Jessica (not this one), Papa and Rich took in Mountain Jam Festival as a special guest of Michael Franti, and Do It For The Love Foundation. They listened to music through the sun kissed day, and late into the night, catching the Allman Brother’s, and narrowly escaping a storm. Rich took Katie to see Willie Nelson, which I hear was uh-mazing. In other news, Leyla is fully licensed and ensured and she is all sapphire convertible, top down driving crazy. Often, she has many mothers shouting after her all at once “Leyla drive safe, Leyla wear your seatbelt, Leyla don’t turn the music up too loud”; to which she smiles her promise and leaves us all staring after her. And, in her beautiful absence we all just shake our heads in wonderment of our free bird. So much to share, so little time…here goes the sprint to the finish. Leyla has only three more sessions of radiation, and she is being shepherded there by all the women who love her and the men she can never leave behind. Jared is chasing Leyla to rocking the bald head, and has jumped the pond for a spin around France and Ireland before circling back to her. Julia is packed for twin arrival, and teetering on Barney Rubble feet. Oh you girls, so naughty playing these tricks on your mama- you are so much like Leyla and Opal all ready with wanting to make your mothers legs root like trees. We are eager to evict these beauties from the womb, and gather them up in loving arms. There are excited sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles, cousins, a Nana, a Nāna, Papa’s and a patiently adoring father. Onwards, to Grassroots, and tan lines, fireflies, and baby cries and of course a well-timed “girl’s hour out”, Leyla baby- you are with us...Tajay, Aysia, Opal, Stella, Emma, Sophie, Cami, August, Waylon, Cadence, we will leave you to the loving care of your nana’s and papa’s. Put on your running shoes and join us, we are just getting started. We have many miles to cover and a universe overflowing with bliss to chase. Turn your face to the sunshine, and play in the rainstorm, dangle your feet in the water and touch your gratitude, every single delicious moment is yours. Big Love, Jessica
