Summer is cruising along like a freight train & this weekend, I felt a shift. Like weve reached the peak of ripeness & have come over the hill. Maybe it was the fragrance in the forest, still fresh & alive, yet on the breeze, a hint of maturing cranberries. Or maybe its that the birds are now grouping together ~ crows, robins & geese. I saw them in clusters, flying over head & gathering for crumbs from the bounties cleared in the farmers fields. And definitely, the days now stretch with less enthusiasm & the air turns cool enough to reach for a jacket both in the morning & after dusk, fitting more the seasons that precede & follow this one. Every moment outside seems so precious & beautiful now. I look at the butterflies with joy, wild Asters with amazement, duck-filled ponds with awe & I swoon over the moon. I stare at my toes, suited in sandals & deeply appreciate that they feel comfortable naked.
