Summer is going out like a lion. It is a perfect Vermont September day, and we are in full learning mode at school. Factors and multiples, prime and composite is all the rage in grade five. In grade six the talk was about greatest common factors. Grade two is counting in sets of two, and kindergarten is using numbers as tools and building strategies that will serve them for their entire lives. Please review the revised bus schedule. Times will be adjusted for adding a couple new stops. The new schedule goes into effect on Monday! Our Meadow Farm fundraising packet is due on Monday as well. The money that we raise will go into the fund to upgrade the playground. The fund was started with money raised from our Lake Monsters night. At the Lake Monsters Game we raised $225. Sweet! October 4th there is no school. It is an in service day for teachers. Books Are Fun will be on September 23. This is a great way to get books for your kiddos at a very nice price. Picture day is October 3rd. Harvest Fest is next Saturday. Please see our website for further details—northheroschool.org. Our preschool teacher, Miss Becky, made a beautiful pad Thai for lunch for the staff. It was so delicious that I will be posting the recipe on the website. Please take a look for this recipe along with Denise Schaefer’s pumpkin cake—out of this world—as it becomes available on the site. Just as an update on our baby. We set the DEFCON meter at 2 on Monday, but then on Thursday—possibly due to a dream by Mrs. Tier—we adjusted the meter to level 3. Level 3 is an elevated alert, and I expect that by the time I write my next letter Mrs. Moulton and her husband Jeff will have had their baby. I have recommended the names Joseph for a boy and Joanne in the case of a girl. Enjoy the weekend. Have a great week. Go be awesome. Joe
