Summer is on its way, and hopefully after the wet winter it may be a nice sunny one. So let’s start preparing for the sunshine. Did you know that you can boost your body’s natural (internal) SPF through supplementation?? Most people are unaware that diet and nutrition plays a large part in getting a sunburn. And you may not realize that the amount of antioxidants that you have in your skin plays a major role in your development of sunburn. The more antioxidants you take in, the lower your risk of sunburn. If you stay away from processed foods and consume a lot of foods which are high in anti-oxidants, such as raw fruits, vegetables and fresh juices, you will find that you have increased tolerance to sun exposure and do not burn as easily. Also, why not try making your own Sun lotion, all natural with no harmful chemicals. Coconut Oil is the most logical oil to use for SPF, since it naturally protects your skin from the sun. Protect your skin with a little SPF also (Zinc Oxide is the natural-healthy SPF to choose – remember the old-time lifeguards with white noses? That was Zinc Oxide!) Here’s the recipe… 150g- Coconut Oil, melted over very low heat 75g- Shea Moisture Coconut 75g- Zinc Oxide Powder for 20 SPF or use 35g for 10 SPF 15ml- Filtered Water Get prepared for summer and enjoy the sunshine!
