Summoned! Ive been called for jury duty - US District Court - on April Fools Day. The duration is one trial, and most trials last about one week, or the length of the selection process (?) if not selected. We get reimbursed $40 a day plus travel - and full wages by my employer. Im a bit too opinionated to sit on a jury - especially on matters of criminal justice. For instance, I cant move beyond my presumption of guilt for the defendant in front of me, so when asked if I can do that, my honest answer would be no. That will knock me out of criminal juries, which is just as well. A jury of ones peers shouldnt include criminal justice archconservatives. Our system is based on different premises.
