Sun, sand and surfing…it’s Calne Summer Festival Calne residents are set for some summery surprises this Saturday when Beach Terrace is transformed into a golden beach, free donkey rides will be on offer in Church Street, and a Surf Simulator will provide some Hawaiian action in the New Market Place. Yes – Calne Summer Festival is back! Bigger and better this year with more floats and walking entrants in the procession and a huge array of stalls and activities. The Green will be turned into a circus for the day as children’s workshops take place from 11.30am – all children are invited to come along and try their luck at stilt-walking, juggling and generally clowning about. Organiser Tracy Howell is excited, “we just want everyone from the town and villages to come along, get involved and be part of this exciting annual event. The procession starts at 4.30pm and promises to be a huge spectacle”. The Royal Armed Forces parade will also be part of the day, with veterans marching at 2pm from The Green down to Beach Terrace where the flag will be raised. All veterans and serving members are encouraged to come along and take part. At 5.30pm the Green will be turned into a Tea and Tunes venue; local musicians are invited to come along for an acoustic open mike session till 8 o’clock. Calne Town Council and partners cordially invite you to join in the fun!
