Sunday 12/6/14 Update: Another Sunday in ICU and the floor was quite busy today, lots to take in all around me. Dave was not following commands today and not very responsive or talking either. The ICU dr wants to run a few tests to make sure nothing has changed. They monitored him for seizures and that was negative and doing another cat scan. The dr feels that maybe it is just the infection running its course, but wants to be on the safe side and we appreciate that. The cultures have not grown anymore bacteria which is a good thing, but we are currently dealing with the effects of the infection and ventriculitis, inflammation of the ventricles, as a result of the meningitis. Unfortunately, he has developed pneumonia on the left side as of today and they are actively treating that as well with the prescribed antibiotics, breathing treatments, deep suctioning, and mechanical vibrations to bring up the secretions. So needless to say, Dave is keeping the drs and nurses busy but continuing to fight the fight. I keep telling him how everyone is sending positive vibes and continuous prayers. It was probably a good thing that he was out of it today because I watched the Dolphins game and that definitely would have pissed him off and cause his blood pressure monitor alarm to go off!! Best part of the day was coming home to fresh bagels and a warm, home cooked dinner...chicken Monday on a Sunday!!...big thanks to Cheryl Unger Frost and Cassie Frost!!!!
